Training Experience

To date, I’ve trained more than 6,300 people across the country. (See “Training Testimonials” for feedback I’ve received.) In nominating me for the Outstanding Fundraising Professional award presented annually by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, my peers said, “Miriam’s greatest contribution to the field of fund development is the 25 years of training she has provided in various workshops through the Nonprofit Resource Center and for individual clients.” My training workshops include:

The Impact Foundry (formerly Nonprofit Resource Center), Sacramento, California. I’ve provided a total of more than 300 local and regional presentations for them over the past 26 years.

  • I presented a two-hour workshop for the California Police Activities League (CAL PAL) Statewide Annual Conference on October 9th. More than half of the attendees were at my elective workshop and I got great feedback from these dedicated police officers.
  • I presented a workshop at the annual Communities & Health Professionals Together conference at the University of California, Davis Medical Center in June 2016, for the third year in a row. At their request, I’ve also got this event on my calendar for their 2017 Conference.
  • Four four-hour workshops for the California Asian Chamber of Commerce, two in Stockton and two in Fresno from May through July. These workshops were especially interesting because participants included both community-based organizations and small businesses from California’s Central Valley. Funding for these workshops was provided by Wells Fargo Bank and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Tanya K. Motta, Project Director for the U.S. Department of Transportation Southwest Region said on May 15, 2015, “The participants were truly appreciative of your approach to the training. It is a tough subject from the outside which looks to have so many barriers, but your presentation made everyone feel like they could do it! …”
  • The first-ever webinars for the Nonprofit Resource Center, Sacramento, providing distance-learning opportunities for agencies and individuals in California. I presented three Grant Writing Training webinars in May and June, 2013.
  • Alaska Primary Care Association – Three Webinars in November 2011.
  • Catholic Healthcare West and Mercy Foundation – Two Day-Long Grant Writing Training presentations, with both general and specific components, in both 2010 and 2011.
  • California Primary Care Association – Three Webinars in January and February 2011.
  • Yuba County Development and Community Services Agency, February 2010.
  • Yolo County Community Development and Services Agency, January 2010.
  • Reality Grantmaking, October 14, 2009, Sacramento, California.
  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure, September 25, 2009.
  • Training on how to apply for Stimulus funding sponsored by California Assemblyman Roger Niello, June 3, 2009.
  • The U.S. Surgeon General’s Office, Medical Reserve Corps National Leadership and Training Conference (April 2008 in Portland, Oregon and April 2007 in Providence, Rhode Island)
